Madeira

Posted on April 16, 2008 in Cause of global warming

Freak weather in Madeira is "caused by climate change". But do people really know what this means? Global warming has become a conversational gambit, like cricket or house prices. Feeling burned over a cause for concern (Herald Sun) I'VE proved it often: The Age won't tell the full facts on global warming. Now its own reporters admit they were forced to be biased.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

This is a joke, right? According an anonymous White House official, President Bush is urging a halt to CO2 emission growth by 2025. Notwithstanding the facts that a) halting emissions increase by 2025 won't do the job, and b) he's waited until he's got nine months left in office to propose anything on global warming, this is one of the funniest articles I've read all year. I mean, how on earth could the reporter write this line, "The official also confirmed that Bush would not detail specific Cheetahs, pumas and jaguars of Europe Cheetahs, pumas and jaguars of Europe (April 16th, 2008) Found on Tretrapod Zoology, a series of articles about prehistoric felines among which one can find big cats like lions, pumas, jaguars, cougars, cheetahs or leopards on continents where they totally disappeared later. Staying On Task with Global Warming

Posted on April 16, 2008 in Climate changes

The Fox News Channel is determined to play as still controversial an issue that much of industry, not to mention the public, not to mention Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch, has decided is not controversial. Al Gore has won fair and square, but since Fox has no use for Gore, that's easily discounted. If Fox really wants to play the opposition, though, the network has to be sure everyone stays on task. And unfortunately, that's becoming difficult, a sign that the opposition has become increasingl America's Most Endangered Rivers of 2008 Rivers flow over spillways, through blood colored gills, over rocks slathered with life. Their levels reflect changes in climate. They assimilate organic waste and carry eroded soil and plastic bits out to the floating garbage gyres. Rivers offer natural beauty, recreation, and are the lifeblood of many businesses. We wish we could write like Hemingway about them. (What would Hemingway have blogged - The Nick Adams posts perhaps?) American Rivers has just released a report on the top ten Americ

Bush emission plan adds to environmental legacy

Posted on April 16, 2008 in Stop global warming

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush's plan to stop the growth of global warming emissions is bound to be part of his checkered environmental legacy, a record roundly criticized by conservation groups and political opponents. Is That Where We Are? Last year, Friends of the Earth Canada (FOE) launched a lawsuit against the Minister of the Environment to hold him accountable for the fact that Canada won’t meet its Kyoto target. Not only the country won’t meet its Kyoto target, but the actual Government didn’t even try. The lawsuit rests on the fact that the Minister ignored the will of the Parliament by not complying with the requirements set by the Kyoto Protocol Implementation Act (KPIA). The KPIA required the Minister of the Environme

The wonder of sleazy-jet

Posted on April 16, 2008 in Global warming myth

What with Global Warming now acknowledged to be something stronger than a myth, I was braced for 2008 to be the year that cheap flights ended. My heart agrees that we need to fly less for the sake of the planet but, selfishly, I can't help but cling on to the hope that travelling with Ryanair and Easyjet for pocket change will go on for a few years yet. I was delighted therefore when I booked tickets to Stockholm yesterday. They cost me £10 out the way and £20 back the way. Bizarrely this is p Was going to swim But today is too pretty to not go outside; so maybe 4-5 miles of easy walking and then some push-ups. Swimming tomorrow before yoga and my blood work). Update: 4 plus miles outside; it was pretty but windy, windy, windy (as it often is around here in the spring and fall). The cyclist jokingly refer to the winds as “the hills of Illinois”. I had a physical yesterday; it was routine but there is a potentially interesting issue that came up. Humor: I love being a nerd; I get the nerd jokes:

NASA Debunks Part of Global Warming Myth, Will Media Report It?

Posted on April 16, 2008 in Global warming myth

A new study out of NASA determined that "not all the large changes seen in Arctic climate in recent years are a result of long-term trends associated with global warming." Of course, it's quite unlikely many climate alarmists will even hear about this study. Shocking Stanford Luncheon: ‘Is Global Warming a Myth?’ Stanford actually allowed a Global warming contrarian to speak his mind ON CAMPUS??? Will wonders never cease!

Are Global Warming Models Accurately Predicting Our Future?

Posted on April 09, 2008 in Climate changes

There are a lot of competing theories out there when it comes to climate change. It seems that for every expert opinion there is an opposite opinion, and for every piece of evidence there are contrary views. Politicians, scientists and environmentalists alike can’t seem to agree on all of the facts... Graham: McCain Has Done More On Global Warming Than Gore Lindsey Graham has officially gone insane. He says that John McCain has done more than Al Gore on warming. Never mind that Gore facilitated the first hearings on climate change in the late '70s, never mind that Gore was a prime mover in facilitating American involvement in the Kyoto Treaties, or that Al Gore won a Nobel Prize for his work. Global Warming and Climate Change Earlier, it was believed that the amount of solar energy caught by the earth was the sole source of influencing climate. But the continuous researches by the environmental scientists have established the fact that it is more of a human activity... U.N. Forecasters: Global Temperatures to Decrease Average global temperatures have not risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory."You should look at trends over a pretty long period". Humans have been recording Earth temperatures for all of 100 year or so, is that a "pretty long period"?
