While George Bush attempts to distract the U.S. from doing anything substantive on climate change, an interesting thing is happening in Europe -- the price of carbon emission permits [EUAs] has hit a ten-month high. The reason: high oil and gas prices. The EU ETS is dominated by power utilities, which must hold EUA permits for every ton of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted when burning fuel to generate power. Most fossil fuel generators burn either coal or gas. When the price of gas rises, it mak The Deniers? The World Renowned Scientist Who Got Al Gore Started "My own personal belief is that we should wait another 10 or 20 years to really be convinced that the greenhouse effect is going to be important for human beings, in both positive and negative ways." Allen, who lives and write Bush Floats Goal for Curbing Warming Gases President Bush on Wednesday proposed a new target for stopping the growth of U.S. emissions tied to global warming by 2025, but environmental groups were quick to criticize the stand as merely undercutting stronger proposals in Congress and by several states.

Anthony Watts has a must-see flashing gif -- a tried and true tradition in the blogosphere -- that reveals the greenwashing of the original story. Note that the activist-induced changes were not factual; they had to do only with the impression conveyed.
